What could shift in 19 days? 🌑 | Yoga Teacher Training May 2027

A new season. A new beginning. And perhaps a new chapter There’s something about September that always feels like an invitation to begin again.

The New Moon in Virgo today arrives at a time when the energy around us naturally begins to shift — summer softens, holidays come to an end, children return to school & it feels there is a renewed appetite for learning, structure & new beginnings.

It feels like a collective exhale after summer…

…and then the opening of a fresh notebook.

New teachers. New subjects. New ideas New possibilities.

And I’ve been thinking a lot about this energy lately, because learning has the capacity to change us.

I know this because it changed me.

Eleven years ago, when I began my own yoga teacher training, I didn’t actually imagine that I would become a yoga teacher.

I certainly couldn’t have imagined where that first step would lead me.

The people I would meet. The places yoga would take me.The retreats I would create. The students I would teach. The community that would grow around it.

And yet, here I am, eleven years later, preparing to welcome another group of people into their own journey of learning and discovery.

It makes me wonder how often we begin something without being able to see the person we might become on the other side.

I’ve seen it happen on retreat, too.

Before Covid, I used to hold my September retreats in Andalucía — transformational weeks where something seemed to happen almost every time.

People arrived for seven days of yoga, sunshine, good food, conversation and space to breathe…

…and left having made decisions that changed the direction of their lives.

I remember one woman, an elder yoga student, who decided she was ready to sell her house in the UK & buy a little place in France to restore.

Another realised she was ready to leave her job of selling houses and become a self-employed creative.

There were relationships that shifted, new businesses imagined, old dreams resurfacing, new friendships forming, and people seeing themselves — and their lives — with completely different eyes.

Seven days.

Seven days of stepping away from the familiar. Seven days of learning, reflecting, moving, connecting and being held in a different environment.

And it made me wonder…

If seven days can create that much movement, what might 19 days make possible?

🌿 Yoga Teacher Training — May 2027

This is the inspiration behind the Yoga Teacher Training I’m creating for May 2027.

And there is something particularly special about the timing.

We will begin around Beltane — May 1st — the traditional beginning of summer, a time associated with vitality, growth, fertility, fire and stepping into the lighter half of the year.

And over 19 days together, we will arrive at the Full Moon — a beautiful point of culmination, illumination and seeing what has grown.

I love the symbolism of that journey.

Beginning with a spark.Nurturing the seed.Doing the work.Allowing something to grow. And arriving at the light of the Full Moon.

Nineteen days to immerse yourself in yoga.

Nineteen days to learn.

To study.

To move.

To question.

To be curious.

To reconnect with yourself.

To spend time with people who are also willing to step outside their everyday lives and explore something deeper.

And yes, this is a Yoga Teacher Training — but I don’t see teacher training as simply learning how to teach a yoga class.

It is an invitation into a much bigger conversation.

About the body.

The breath.

The mind.

Yoga philosophy.

Meditation.

Practice.

Presence.

How we relate to ourselves and to others.

And ultimately, how we choose to live.

You may arrive wanting to teach.

Or you may arrive simply wanting to deepen your own practice.

You may arrive at a crossroads in your life, knowing that something needs to change but not yet knowing what.

And perhaps, like my own experience eleven years ago, you don’t have to know what the outcome will be.

You simply have to give yourself the space to discover it.

Because sometimes transformation doesn't come from trying to change everything.

Sometimes it comes from stepping away for long enough to hear yourself clearly.

So, as we move from the expansiveness of summer into this new season of learning, I’m planting the first seed for May 2027.

Beltane → 19 days → Full Moon.

A journey into yoga.

A journey into learning.

And perhaps, for some of you, a journey into a completely unexpected new chapter.

I’ll be sharing more over the coming weeks.

For now, perhaps the question of this New Moon is simply:

What are you ready to learn?

And perhaps an even more interesting one…

What might become possible if you gave yourself 19 days to find out?

With love,

Joanne 🌿
